From the acute moment of injury through full return to sport — structured, evidence-based rehabilitation that gets athletes back to performance safely.
Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a weekend warrior, a sports injury doesn’t just affect your body — it disrupts your routine, your fitness, and your identity. The uncertainty of not knowing when you’ll be back, or if you’ll come back the same, is the hardest part. Pushing through pain or returning too early only leads to re-injury and a longer recovery.
At Move to Motion in Surrey, our physiotherapists specialize in sports injury rehabilitation. We treat the full spectrum — from acute sprains and muscle tears to complex ligament reconstructions and stress fractures. Every treatment plan includes clear return-to-sport criteria so you know exactly what milestones you need to hit. We combine manual therapy, IMS, shockwave, and progressive loading to get you back safely. Serving athletes across Newton, North Delta, Cloverdale, and the greater Surrey area.
We group injuries by the biomechanical demands of your sport — because an ankle sprain in basketball needs a different rehab approach than one in hiking. Select your category below.
Basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, rugby. Pivoting, sudden stops, and rapid direction changes cause ACL tears, ankle sprains, and hamstring pulls.
View Injuries →Tennis, pickleball, badminton, swimming, baseball. Repetitive upper-body movements lead to tennis elbow, rotator cuff tears, and shoulder impingement.
View Injuries →Marathon running, track & field, cycling, hiking. Repetitive lower-limb loading causes runner’s knee, shin splints, Achilles tendonitis, and stress fractures.
View Injuries →Hockey, football, rugby, MMA, boxing. Direct blows and collisions cause concussions, joint dislocations, fractures, and AC joint injuries.
View Injuries →Golf, rowing, rock climbing. Lower impact but repetitive stress and specialized mechanics cause golfer’s elbow, lower back pain, and wrist injuries.

View All →Your first session includes a sport-specific assessment — we evaluate not just the injured area but your entire movement chain, strength baselines, and sport demands. From there, we build a phased rehabilitation plan: early protection and pain management, progressive loading and strength rebuild, sport-specific conditioning, and return-to-play testing.
We use objective criteria — not just how you feel — to determine when you’re ready. Hop tests, strength ratios, movement quality screens, and sport-specific drills ensure you return with confidence. If prehab could have prevented your injury, we’ll build a prevention program into your discharge plan. Need a running assessment? We do those too.
You can see a physiotherapist directly in BC without a referral. If we suspect a fracture, significant ligament tear, or concussion requiring imaging, we’ll refer you appropriately. For most soft tissue injuries, starting physio early leads to faster recovery.
As soon as possible. Early intervention — even within the first 48–72 hours — reduces swelling, prevents compensatory patterns, and accelerates healing. We often have same-day availability.
Yes. If your sports injury resulted from a motor vehicle accident, ICBC covers 25 pre-approved sessions. Extended health plans also cover physiotherapy. We direct-bill all major insurers.
Typical return-to-sport timelines are 9–12 months post-surgery, depending on the sport and surgeon’s protocol. We use objective strength and functional testing to ensure you’re ready — not just a calendar date.
Absolutely. Our prehab and injury prevention programs identify movement deficits and strength imbalances before they become injuries. Prevention is always better than rehabilitation.
