Founded with a shared vision — to bring world-class, integrated healthcare to the Newton community in Surrey, BC, and to lead by example as clinicians, mentors, and community builders.
Move to Motion was founded by Bhuv Atwal and Ravi Atwal with a single, clear purpose: to build a clinic in Surrey where every patient receives the same standard of care that major urban centres take for granted. Not a franchise. Not a volume model. A clinic where the founders are present, involved, and accountable to every patient who walks through the door.
Bhuv and Ravi are deeply rooted in the Newton community. They understand the demographic, the cultural nuances, the economic pressures, and the healthcare gaps that exist here. Move to Motion is their answer to those gaps — a multidisciplinary clinic that offers physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, active rehab, and aesthetics under one roof, with direct billing, flexible hours, and a team that treats patients as people.
MPT, B.Kin, FDN — Registered Physiotherapist
For Bhuv, physiotherapy isn’t just a profession — it’s a responsibility. As the founder of Move to Motion, Bhuv has built a reputation as one of Surrey’s most thorough clinicians by treating every assessment like a puzzle, specializing in identifying the root causes that others often miss.
The Foundation of Expertise
Bhuv’s deep understanding of human movement began with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, where he worked with a diverse range of populations — from varsity and Paralympic athletes to patients recovering from strokes and TBIs. His early fascination with exercise physiology and biomechanical video analysis allowed him to bridge the gap between data and performance, helping athletes optimize force and joint angles for competition.
An International Perspective
Seeking a global standard of care, Bhuv earned his Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland in Australia. While abroad, he immersed himself in high-stakes environments, serving as a first-contact clinician at elite rugby events and specializing in bike biomechanics to resolve pain for long-distance cyclists.
A Community-First Approach
After years of refining his skills in Australia, Bhuv returned to his hometown to co-found Move to Motion. His vision was to create more than just a clinic — he wanted a community. Whether he is working with the next generation of athletes or helping seniors regain their mobility, Bhuv blends advanced clinical skills with a genuine investment in his patients’ lives.
Specialized Clinical Focus
With over a decade of experience, Bhuv combines manual therapy with advanced technology to treat complex cases. His expertise includes:
Advanced Needling: IMS and Dry Needling.
Technological Recovery: Class IV Laser, Shockwave Therapy, and Spinal Decompression.
Complex Rehab: Concussion management and pre/post-surgical rehabilitation.
Chronic Pain: Specialized strategies for long-term pain management.
Direct, invested, and driven by results, Bhuv is dedicated to helping you move better and stay moving.

R.Ac, B.Sc — Registered Acupuncturist
Ravi offers a rare perspective in modern healthcare, bridging the gap between high-level athletic performance and the profound healing traditions of Eastern medicine. As a Registered Acupuncturist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, he combines evidence-based Western science with Classical TCM theory to treat the whole person, not just the symptom.
The Athlete’s Edge
Ravi’s foundation was built on the pitch. Having played elite-level soccer for BC provincial teams and competed across North America and Europe, he understands the discipline, nutrition, and rigorous recovery required to perform at the highest levels. His own journey through injuries — from Achilles tendinopathy to joint dislocations — introduced him to the power of acupuncture. Intrigued by how it connected the entire body’s systems, he transitioned from a fascination with biomechanics to a deep dive into the relationship between energy (Qi), frequency, and physics.
Traditional Theory Meets Modern Evidence
Ravi’s clinical approach is uniquely rigorous. He blends classical TCM theory with evidence-based Western research, making his treatments both deeply rooted in tradition and informed by modern medical science. By viewing injuries through both a biomechanical lens and an internal energetic lens, he achieves outcomes that consistently exceed patient expectations.
Specialized Clinical Focus
Ravi’s practice is defined by his specialized clinical expertise in the following areas:
Neurological & Facial Pain: Focused expertise in treating complex facial pain, chronic migraines, and debilitating tension headaches by integrating traditional acupuncture with modern neurological regulation.
Internal Systemic Regulation: Clinical precision to harmonize the body’s internal systems, effectively addressing stress, anxiety, and the physiological impacts of nervous system dysregulation.
Chronic Pain & Orthopedic Acupuncture: Drawing on his background as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, he utilizes acupuncture to provide high-level rehabilitation for chronic pain, with a particular clinical interest in complex lower back injuries and long-term musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Integrated Aesthetic Medicine: Bridging the gap between wellness and aesthetics, combining Cosmetic Acupuncture with XERF by Cynosure technology for non-invasive skin tightening and facial rejuvenation.
A Disciplined Path to Recovery
Leadership and discipline have been constants in Ravi’s life. He takes a truly patient-centered approach, taking the time to understand the full context of your life to create a path toward long-term healing. Whether you are seeking relief from years of chronic pain or looking to harmonize your internal health, Ravi provides the expertise and perspective required for true transformation.
Book with Ravi →Surrey’s Newton community deserves healthcare that reflects its ambition, diversity, and drive. When Bhuv and Ravi founded Move to Motion, they made a deliberate decision to build in Newton — not in a higher-income suburb, not closer to a hospital complex, but here. Because this is where they are from. And because the residents of this community deserve access to the same advanced diagnostics, specialized therapies, and integrated care models that exist in Vancouver’s most well-resourced clinics.
The mission is simple: get people better, keep them better, and make the process as accessible, affordable, and human as possible. Direct billing eliminates financial barriers. Evening and weekend hours accommodate working families. And a team that genuinely listens ensures that no patient leaves without a plan.
Every treatment decision at Move to Motion is grounded in current clinical evidence. We do not prescribe treatments because they are profitable, because they are familiar, or because they require minimal effort. We prescribe them because the evidence supports their use for the specific condition in front of us — and because we would prescribe the same thing for a member of our own family.
This means some patients need manual therapy and exercise. Some need acupuncture and IMS. Some need spinal decompression or shockwave. Some need all of the above working in coordination. The point is that treatment is driven by assessment, not by protocol — and that we are always honest about what will and will not work for each individual.
Move to Motion is not just a business in Newton — it is part of the fabric of this community. Bhuv and Ravi grew up here, went to school here, and made a conscious choice to build their professional lives here. That connection shapes everything about how the clinic operates: the hours it keeps, the languages it can accommodate, the understanding it brings to patients navigating insurance systems in a second language, and the patience it extends to every patient regardless of how long they take.
Both founders are committed to mentorship and community leadership. They take on student placements from BC physiotherapy and TCM programs, giving the next generation of clinicians the same real-world clinical exposure that shaped their own careers. They participate in community health initiatives, sponsor local programs, and actively advocate for improved healthcare access in underserved Surrey neighbourhoods.
The goal is not just to build a successful clinic. It is to raise the standard of healthcare in Newton — and to inspire the next generation of South Asian health professionals to invest in their communities the same way.
